Sea Port and Container Terminal Network Infrastructure
Fiber Optic Network for Sea Port and Container Terminal Infrastructure, Including Integration of New and Old Data Centers
With the continuous growth in global maritime trade, the operational scale of sea ports are expanding, creating higher demands for faster and more stable networks. To enhance operational efficiency at the seaport and container yard, an upgrade of the current network infrastructure was necessary. This project involved the deployment of fiber optic cabling in and successfully integrating new and old data centers, resulting in a high-performance network cabling capable of supporting future expansion.
Requirements
- High-Speed Network Connectivity: Support faster data transmission across internal networks, CCTV systems, and data centers.
- Seamless Data Center Integration: Maintain network stability while integrating new and existing data centers.
- Scalability for Future Growth: Plan for future network expansion to support operational demands.
Challenges
- Environmental Durability: The fiber cables needed to be water-resistant, UV-protected, and rodent-proof to withstand harsh outdoor conditions like high temperatures and humidity.
- Long-Distance Signal Transmission: The extensive yard area required low-loss single-mode fibers to ensure minimal signal degradation.
- Data Center Compatibility: Planning for seamless data flow between the new and old data centers while adhering to fire safety standards was crucial.
- Cable Routing Design and Management: Strategically plan fiber optic cable routes to prevent tangling and damage. Ensure ample space for future maintenance and upgrades. Opt for fiber optic enclosures and adapters with clear labeling areas for easy identification and management.
